Expectations from the program and your mentor
I want my mentor to guide me toward my goal of finding a Graduate role in Accounting or Auditing, help me connect to different people, and be a mentor both professionally as well as someone who can motivate me toward my study/educational goals. I need someone who can plan my journey with me, listen as a friend, and give advice as a professional.

Short term goals (1-2 years)
My short-term goal is to gain experience in Accounting and Auditing through Part-time roles, Vacation/ internship programs, and to ultimately get a Graduate position when I graduate in July 2024. Alongside this, I want to start my journey toward CPA Australia, which is studying and attempting examinations for the designation.
Effort spent to achieve those goals
I try to maximize doing Finance tasks like Invoice processing in my role as an Operations Assistant. I have been applying for part-time roles in Accounts Receivable, Payable, and Payroll but have been unable to get a role yet. I am also applying for Graduate and Vacation programs and have given virtual interview assessments to a few big companies. I have also been taking courses in Accounting and Audit foundations on LinkedIn Learning to upskill myself and to showcase those skills in my resume. I try my best to connect with 2-3 people on LinkedIn on a regular basis and have heard that coffee chats are useful to talk about potential openings, my only issue is how do I ask them and what reason should I ask them for?
Also, I have chosen CPA Australia major in my Master, where they are teaching us those subjects so I am learning the material for future exams.
Long term goals (3+ years)
My long-term goal is to work in a reputed firm in Perth, work with businesses, and clients, learn from my experiences, and contribute my skills in a better way. I want to be an expert in any field of Accounting (Auditing, Financial Accounting and Management Accounting) , and I am still finding a way for choosing one. Becoming an expert or gaining in-depth knowledge and experience would help me be more confident.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I want to start with my strengths, I am good at building relations, looking at people and situations from different perspectives, and analyzing and going into detail with situations (essentially problem-solving). I am honest and ethical, in my work and work with determination towards my goals. I also take initiative and go above and beyond what is expected of me. For example, I always make efforts to research and find better opportunities and events where my organization can represent and promote the vision it has, even though that is outside the scope of my work.
My weakness would be over-thinking and over-analyzing things which is good for my profession as I pay more attention to details but it also means that I spend more time on tasks than required. I am a perfectionist as well; for instance, if there are few modules to study in a subject, I will make sure one is completed to perfection or near perfection and only then move on to the next module.
