Mentoring is suitable for individuals who want guidance, direction, or perspective on their career path. It is particularly useful when someone is unsure about next steps, changing direction, or entering the workforce for the first time. It provides access to experience-based insights that are not usually available through formal education.
A structured mentoring program runs over a defined period, with clear milestones, guided sessions, and ongoing support rather than ad-hoc conversations.
Participants in Mentor it Forward® are matched with industry professionals who have direct experience in their field. Alongside one-on-one mentoring, the organisation often offers workshops, group sessions, and check-ins to ensure progress is consistent and practical. The focus is on applying learning to real career situations where applicable, not just discussing ideas.
Mentors are professionals who have built experience in their industries and are willing to share what they’ve learned.
In Mentor it Forward®, mentors are selected based on their professional background and ability to guide others. They bring real examples from their own careers, including challenges, decisions, and lessons learned. The relationship is focused on guidance, perspective, and helping mentees navigate their next steps with more clarity.
Mentoring is one part of the experience, but Mentor it Forward® offers so much more.
MiF often organises workshops, practical training sessions, and networking opportunities, where participants are welcome to register and attend. These sessions focus on workplace skills such as communication, problem-solving, and professional conduct, often delivered through real scenarios shared by industry professionals. This combination helps translate advice into capability.
Lack of direction often comes from not understanding how the workplace operates.
Through consistent interaction with mentors and exposure to real examples, participants begin to understand expectations, common challenges, and how decisions are made in professional environments. This clarity naturally builds confidence and helps individuals make more informed choices about their careers.
Progress is typically measured through changes in clarity, confidence, and capability over time. This may include improved communication, better decision-making, or clearer career direction.
The Mentor it Forward® program includes structured check-ins and reflection points to track development, while offering support by addressing any concerns or challenges.
